Meet Alison – Your Reading Specialist Guide
I’m Alison, Reading & Dyslexia Specialist, and creator of Learning At The Primary Pond. After years of working with elementary students, I created these resources to make it easy for you to get your students on track with their letters. Every activity is Science of Reading aligned and classroom tested, so you can feel confident using this pack with your students.
For each letter, you’ll guide students through the following activities:
Meet the Letter
Students practice saying the sound, working with words that begin with the sound, and tracing the sound for multisensory practice.
Find & Trace the Letter
Next, students circle, highlight, or cover all examples of the target letter. They trace the letter with a writing utensil and say the name and sound aloud (more multisensory work).
Find Words & Pictures for the Letter
You’ll read aloud words, and students will circle or highlight those that begin with the target letter. Next, students will identify pictures that begin with the target letter sound.
Work with the Letter In Context
Here, you’ll read aloud sentences, and students will underline the words that begin with the target letter. They write the lowercase and capital form of the letter without support. Last, students write the letter in the context of a CVC word, which you’ll model how to sound out and read.
Review Sheets
Sprinkled throughout the pack are review sheets and fun games, perfect for reinforcing the letters you’ve already taught.

Do I need special supplies?
Not at all! You’ll just need to make sure that students have writing utensils. Dice and counters (or small manipulatives) are helpful to have for a few of the games. If you prefer, you can use binders and page protectors so that the materials can be reused, but many teachers simply print the activities and staple them into packets.
