Blending Lines | Diphthongs

This set of 22 blending lines will help your students master words with diphthongs! These blending lines are great for helping students apply phonics skills and increase their reading fluency. The diphthong words and sentences on the blending lines were carefully chosen and arranged to help your students be successful! This resource is aligned to the science of reading.

You can use these blending lines in a whole group setting (after teaching or reviewing a phonics skill), in a small group setting (i.e. before reading a decodable text), or as independent practice. Students can also take these home for at-home practice.

Students will each have their own copy of the blending lines sheet, and they will practice reading it multiple times. Every time they finish reading the page, they get to color in a star at the top. (This helps them stay motivated to read it multiple times!)

Differentiation with these diphthong blending lines is easy! For each skill, there is a "basic / easier" page, as well as at least one "challenge" page. You might give different sheets to different students, or have students practice the basic sheet and then move on to the challenge sheet. The table of contents makes all the different options easy to find and print.

IMPORTANT: If you own a license of the From Sounds to Spelling phonics program, you do not need to purchase these diphthong blending lines. They are already included in the "bonuses" section of your login area.
