Inferring Activities | Holiday Gift Theme | Inferences Worksheets

$2.00
Description

These inferring activities are a fun way to help K-2 students learn to make simple inferences! These practice activities for making inferences work great around Christmas or the winter holidays, but you can also use them anytime throughout the year.

In these activities, 12 "mystery gifts" are described. Students must use clues from the descriptions to guess what is inside each gift box.

Materials for differentiation are included! All students can participate even if they can't read or write much yet. Here are some different options for how you can implement the activities:

- Option 1: Read aloud each description to students. Have students turn and talk to make their inferences, and then discuss as a class. Using the picture cards, reveal what is inside the holiday gift box.

- Option 2: Read aloud each description to students. Have students turn and talk to make their inferences, and then draw what they think is inside the holiday gift box. Using the picture cards, reveal what is inside the holiday gift box.

- Option 3: Give students the worksheets and read them aloud the descriptions of what's inside the holiday gift boxes. Have students write their inferences and support their inferences with clues from the descriptions.

- Option 4: Provide the worksheets and have students read the clues and independently complete the activities. Go over the answers as a class when everyone is finished.

There are plenty of materials, so you can complete the activities over a few days.

FAQ

My file isn’t printing correctly. How do I fix this?

The vast majority of printing problems can be fixed with the “Print as Image” solution in Adobe Reader! Learn more about how to do that here HERE.

Where can I learn more about your literacy products and how to use them?

We have a free catalog that walks you through my main resources. It can help you decide which resources are right for you and your students! You can grab the catalog HERE.

I teach in a split-grade class (i.e. 1st and 2nd). How should I select products for my students?

Alison always recommends getting the lower of the two grade levels. So if you teach in a 1st and 2nd grade class, get a 1st grade version. You can always differentiate in small groups or 1:1 to challenge your more advanced students!

I teach in Canada and am looking to buy some of your literacy products. How does the Canadian curriculum align to the U.S. curriculum?

Our Canadian customers tell us that it’s best to purchase one grade level down. If you teach first grade, for example, try a Kindergarten product. You can also check the preview file of any resource in our TpT store to see example lessons to help you make your decision!

These games are great! I love that there is an assessment with it so I can really see what skills my students need more practice with. Once they learn the games they are able to do them independently as well.

I used this resource when a couple of my students picked decoding multisyllabic words as their goal. This really allowed them to work on their goal independently! I loved that they were able to own their learning.

My students love these games for small groups, and once some of them are able to play them independently, they are able to teach others! Great academic skill review that is fun for them!
